In preparation for the announcement of the PSAL Girls Wrestling Teams, Sara McMann will be coming to New York City next week. McMann has placed higher at the Olympics than any other US female wrestler, having won a silver medal at the 2004 Athens Games. Her impressive list of accolades also include a world silver medal, two world bronze medals, and seven national championship titles. She is now a professional MMA fighter.
If that weren’t inspiration enough, Sara has gone through several life challenges, including an impoverished childhood and the tragic murder of her brother. Wrestling was an escape for McMann through her struggles. By drive and determination, she turned her refuge into success.
Come meet Sara and listen to her speak on Sunday, January 27th, Mayor’s Cup Girls Tournament or on Wednesday, January 30th, at Beat the Streets at 6pm.
